Away from tutoring, I love being outdoors and surrounded by nature. I also love learning and studying, having a laugh, spending time with my family and my gorgeous dog!
A little about me
I've worked in education for over twenty years. Although I've completed extensive formal study in specific educational needs and behaviour, much of my knowledge and experience has also come from the many children, families and schools I've worked with over the years.
Often, by the time I meet a child, they have been struggling for a while and their confidence as a learner has been affected. I'm passionate about helping children recognise their strengths, while developing the skills and strategies they need to support their own way of learning.
As a mum to three girls, and having supported them through their own education, I also have first-hand experience of many of the challenges parents face.
I'm dyslexic myself, which gives me an understanding of some of the challenges my students experience and helps me connect with them as individuals.

My approach
I believe that confidence and learning go hand in hand.
When a child has been finding learning difficult, they may need more than simply extra practice. They need to feel understood, experience success and begin to believe in their own ability to learn.
Every child is different, so I take time to understand their individual strengths and needs and adapt my teaching accordingly. For some children, this may mean filling gaps in their literacy learning; for others, it may involve developing strategies that help them become more confident and independent learners.
My aim is to provide a positive and encouraging learning environment where children feel comfortable to have a go, build on their successes and make progress at their own pace.
