I am an experienced specialist tutor and have successfully supported a wide range of children and young people in a variety of situations over the last 16 years - within, and out of the school environment.

I find that my positivity and patience really helps to create trust with my students - some of which have been through a really tough time at school either emotionally, or with their learning - or both.

Often, by the time I meet a student they have very low self-esteem or are becoming aware that they're not keeping up.   I'm therefore passionate about enabling my students to learn about their individual strengths as well the strategies needed in order to support their own way of learning.

Being a mum to three amazing girls and having supported them through their own education I have first-hand experience of many of the challenges that parents face.

Having met so many young people (and adults) that find reading challenging,

I'm also super passionate about individuals learning to read as fluently as they're able to with the correct support.  Why? Because reading opens the doors to the rest of their learning and future skills.

I'm neurodiverse (dyslexic) which I feel enables me to better connect with my students and empathise with their challenges.

I love - the awesomeness of the outdoors and nature and often bring this into my work with my students.   I also love to study, having a laugh, my gorgeous dog and my lovely family.

Having high self-esteem and a positive internal narrative are key to our wellbeing.

For children and young people it is also crucial for their learning.

I know personally some of the struggles pupils encounter, and how their learning, behaviour, confidence, and self-esteem can be affected. Often, despite receiving support through school, many children require that bit extra - individual support for their individual needs. For some it is about filling some gaps in their literacy learning, for others it is ongoing academic, behavioural and emotional support. Whatever the reason it is usually initially about mindset, dealing with their anxieties, and increasing self-esteem and confidence. I endeavour to create a positive attitude in my students whilst working with me.

I'm thankful to those that supported me to win this:
